New Product Focus: Libra by NeoGrass

New Product Focus: Libra

We are pleased to announce the launch of another exciting new product here at NeoGrass.

Our latest artificial grass, Libra, is an affordable 38mm pile grass that’s perfect for gardens and lawns.

In recent times, with the increase in popularity of artificial grass, our customers and approved installers have been demanding a low-cost product that can transform dull, lifeless lawns into lush green areas that not only improve a garden aesthetically, but also make it a more usable environment for the whole family.

We have spent many months rigorously testing our latest product to ensure it meets our high standards for quality and we’re pleased to announce it has passed with flying colours; we’re now hugely excited to begin transforming gardens up and down the UK with Libra artificial grass.

Libra is available to DIYers through our online store or via our network of approved installers.

Ultra-Soft Underfoot

Libra by NeoGrass Picture 5

Libra’s low abrasion fibres are composed of monofilament bicolour (two shades of green) polyethylene of 8,800 dtex, with a central nerve fibre shape. This helps make the taller fibres springy and durable.

Its lower curly bicolour (green and straw) diamond-shaped polyethylene fibres of 5,000 dtex provide a dense lower pile to support the grass.

The soft yet hardwearing polyethylene fibres give Libra an extremely soft feel underfoot and the lush texture will invite you to walk on it barefoot.

Libra produces an amazingly real visual effect thanks to its perfectly balanced combination of three shades of green – moss green, lime green, and the mint green of the thatch layer – plus straw, also in the thatch layer.

This variation in tone creates an authentic vibrant natural grass look.

Perfect for Front & Back Gardens

There are many reasons why more and more people are choosing to have artificial grass installed in their gardens.

For some, their busy lives mean that they have very little time to spend mowing, watering or feeding their lawn to ensure it remains in a lush condition.

For others, frequent use from children and pets turns their lawn into a mud bath.

Alternatively, a lawn may struggle to grow because of overhanging trees that block out sunlight and suck moisture from the ground.

Whatever your reason for having artificial grass, Libra is an excellent choice and is perfect for front and back gardens alike.

Libra has been designed specifically as an affordable artificial grass to transform your existing real lawn.

With a blend of four realistic colours – moss green, lime green, mint green and straw – Libra can dramatically transform any outdoor environment.

It’s produced with a centre filament that allows it to stand upright and to recover quickly after use, retaining its attractive appearance and pleasant feel.

Libra has been classed as Cfl-s1 in fire-retardant tests for fire-resistant flooring, according to UNE EN 13501-12007, and therefore complies with EU fire safety standards. This gives you peace of mind; if someone is careless with a cigarette end or candle, or should you be unfortunate enough to suffer a fire in or around your property, your synthetic turf will not smoulder.

Libra has also been awarded a confidence in textiles certification from Oeko-Tex to ensure it’s completely free from harmful substances.

Tough Latex Backing

When searching for the best quality artificial grass for your garden lawn, it’s essential to examine the backing, as that’s what holds everything together. No matter how good artificial grass looks when new, it’s the quality of the backing, as much as the quality of the fibres, that will ensure it lasts.

A common problem with inferior artificial grass is that the primary and secondary backings break apart due to low quantities of latex.

Libra is weaved on a reinforced polypropylene 163gr/m2 backing to form the primary layer and our manufacturing process ends by adding 968 gr/m2 of heavy duty latex, which gives an anchoring resistance greater than 30N to each fibre.

The high percentage of latex present in the backing of the Libra results in a high strength artificial grass that also has the flexibility to prevent cracking or breaking.

How to Install Libra

Libra is installed in much the same way as any other artificial grass and the installation method will vary, depending upon the application.

The most common use for Libra is as a garden lawn replacement.

For this installation method, we recommend our standard installation procedures.

This involves an excavation of approximately 75mm below finished height, allowing for a 50mm sub base of MOT type 1, along with 25mm of granite dust (Grano) to provide the laying course.

To protect against weed growth, it is advisable to install a double layer of weed membrane, both to the sub grade and directly underneath the artificial grass latex backing.

To finish the installation, we recommend applying approximately 5-6kg of silica sand as ballast, to aid fixation, improve drainage and support the artificial fibres.

NeoGrass Artificial Grass Foam Underlay Shockpad 1

Libra can also be installed in conjunction with either a 10mm or 20mm foam underlay to provide an extra soft feel and to comply with Head Impact Criteria (HIC). If you have children’s play equipment in your garden, this gives you additional peace of mind.
