oxfordshire artificial grass

Our Oxfordshire artificial grass installers love transforming gardens for the local residents in this beautiful county.

There are so many places to visit and things to do and see in Oxfordshire that it’s no surprise tourism is one of the biggest industries. In Oxford itself, there’s everything from the university colleges, to the world-famous Ashmolean Museum and Bodleian Library to the Botanic Garden – dating back to the 17th century, and Britain’s oldest.

Venture a little further afield and there’s the Hook Norton Brewery, set in the village of the same name and established in 1849. As well as a shop and museum, you can book rooms for meetings and special events.

Shopping is the name of the game at Bicester Village shopping complex, which has over 160 shops, plus an assortment of restaurants and cafes to choose from. It attracts over six million people a year.

Crime fiction fans will feel at home in Wallingford. It was home to Agatha Christie for four decades, and is a filming location for the long-running TV series, Midsomer Murders.

Oxfordshire isn’t short of historical sites. There are castles, palaces and places of worship aplenty, including Broughton Castle, where The Madness of King George and Shakespeare in Love were filmed, Blenheim Palace, where Winston Churchill was born, and the medieval Saint Mary’s church, in Adderbury, which dates to the 13th century and is famous for its carvings.

As well as a rich history and a wealth of attractions in the urban areas, Oxford is blessed with stunningly beautiful countryside. Between the Cotswolds, the Chilterns and the North Wessex Downs, you’ll never be short of somewhere to go for a walk or a bike ride.

5 Things You Probably Didn’t Know About Artificial Grass

1. It’s not 100% maintenance free

You may hear some people claim that artificial grass is ‘maintenance free’.

Nevertheless, this isn’t quite true. Fortunately, however, the maintenance that is required is minimal, and it’s far less than would be required for a real grass lawn. All it needs is the occasional brush to reinvigorate the fibres and to remove any debris. You should also make sure that you remove leaves from the fake grass as they can cause weed growth.

For further information, please see our maintenance guide.

2. Artificial grass is free-draining

One of the major advantages of fake turf is that it will drastically improve your lawn’s drainage. Rainfall quickly drains through the perforated backing material of artificial grass to prevent puddling. It is so effective at draining liquid that up to 52 litres of water can drain through each square metre of grass, per minute.

3. Synthetic fibres can be made from three different types of plastic

Artificial fibres, known as the ‘yarn’, can be made from either nylon (polyamide), polypropylene or polyethylene. Each type of fibre has its strengths and weaknesses. Nylon is the strongest type of fibre and is ideal for high traffic, heavy use areas, but can be abrasive. Polypropylene offers good strength and resilience, but is susceptible to UV degradation. Polyethylene offers a good balance between strength and softness. The best types of artificial grass use a blend of nylon and polyethylene fibres, as do Aberdeen, Inverness or Arena. For further information on fibre materials see our guide, here.

4. A good-quality backing is very important for long-lasting fake grass

A vital part of an artificial turf is the backing. That’s because it holds everything together. The backing consists of a primary layer, to which the yarn is stitched, and a secondary layer, typically consisting of latex. This secondary layer acts as the glue that bonds the fibres to the primary layer . Without a good quality backing the fibres will break away, resulting in a failed artificial lawn.

5. Artificial grass can last for 20 years

Of course, it does depend on levels of usage, but if you look after your artificial lawn it can last for 20 years. This makes it fantastic investment in your property and the initial outlay of having a fake lawn installed is often recouped in the saved maintenance costs and increased property value.

Here's what our Oxfordshire Customers have to say...

  • Our lawn was a muddy mess. We have 2 female dogs and it was covered in brown scorch marks. The team worked hard even through the rain to put down our new artificial turf. What a difference this has made to our garden! The dogs love it. Despite all the rain over the last couple of weeks, the lawn has not flooded. We are delighted with everything and now have a surface that our dogs can use all year round. Mr Timmins, Oxford
  • Brilliant what a fantastic job by our Neograss approved installers. The finished result looks superb and the dogs seem to like it too. I would have no hesitation in recommending both the installers and Neograss. The guys fitting the grass were polite and hard working, after each day everything was cleaned and washed down leaving our garden and driveway area clean and tidy. Only trouble is I now want them to do my front lawn too. Thanks again first class service and excellent quality product. Mrs Scott, Oxfordshire
