The 35mm pile looks natural and offers very good visual depth. Its height and colour will be the envy of all.
Aberdeen grass has midrib fibre, a shape that encourages the grass to recover after it has been stepped on.
There is also a nylon pile with its diamond structure, making Aberdeen amazingly crush proof and highly resilient.
The product is extremely dense, with almost 19,000 turf fibres per square metre. Aberdeen has two structural design elements that keeps the blades upright: one pushes it upwards and the other keeps it helps it to recover from foot traffic and garden furniture.
A Safe Environment for Every Application
Aberdeen has been classed as Cfl-s1 in fire-retardant tests for fire-resistant flooring, according to UNE EN 13501-12007, and therefore complies with EU fire safety standards.
Accidents can and do occur, but you can rest assured that if someone is careless with a cigarette end, a fire will not spread – perfect for public areas such as pub gardens and hotel courtyards.
Aberdeen has also been awarded a confidence in textiles certification from Oeko-Tex to ensure it’s completely free from harmful substances and will not cause harm to visitors or the public.
Ultra-Tough Latex Backing
When searching for the best quality artificial grass, it’s essential to look closely at the backing, as that’s what holds everything together.
A common problem with inferior artificial grass is that the primary and secondary backings break apart due to the low quantities of latex used during manufacturing.
Aberdeen is weaved on a reinforced polypropylene 163g/m2 backing to form the primary layer and our manufacturing process ends by adding 968g/m2 of heavy duty latex, which gives an anchoring resistance greater than 30N to each fibre.
The high percentage of latex present in the backing of the Aberdeen results in a high strength artificial grass that also has sufficient flexibility to prevent cracking or breaking.
How to Install Aberdeen
Installation of Aberdeen generally depends upon the application.
For most application types, following the standard installation procedures outlined here is recommended.
These methods are the preferred techniques for gardens, playgrounds, commercial areas and swimming pool surrounds.
For heavy use areas it may be more beneficial to install a 100mm MOT Type 1 rather than the standard 50mm sub base.
Aberdeen can also be installed on existing hard surfaces such as concrete, decking and paving.
For this type of installation, a foam underlay will be required to mask any undulations in the underlying surface and to ensure a softer surface.
For further information regarding installing artificial grass directly on top concrete, paving and decking, please see the step by step guide here.
A 10mm or 20mm foam underlay shockpad can also be installed underneath Aberdeen on other applications including garden lawns, for those looking for a soft underfoot feel.
A foam underlay will ensure that the surface meets the Head Impact Criteria set out by the European Union, therefore making it ideal for school and playground applications.
For every application and installation method, we highly recommend applying approximately 4-5kg of silica sand as ballast, to aid fixation, improve drainage and support the artificial fibres. Further information on sand infills can be found here.
To protect against weed growth, it is advisable to install a double layer of weed membrane, both to the sub grade and directly underneath the artificial grass latex backing.
