Product Focus: Delta
Delta has proven to be a very popular choice with many of our customers for a wide range of applications.
Its 32mm pile and dark green yarn makes the Delta a realistic artificial turf that is capable of transforming dull areas into lush green grass at an affordable price.
Like all of our artificial grass products, Delta requires very little maintenance – which, of course, is a huge benefit for many homeowners lacking the time to spend maintaining their gardens.
It is also hard-wearing enough to stand up to everyday use from the entire family and their pets.
Delta is perfect for a wide range of applications, including front and back garden lawns, artificial grass for pets, schools and playgrounds, offices, public and commercial use, pool surrounds and balconies, roof gardens and terraces.
In our latest product focus article, we’re going to be putting the spotlight on this popular artificial turf.
Delta was created with colour engineering for a natural appearance: a dark green and olive green surface is combined with a straw brown and deep green thatch to create an ultra-realistic turf.
The fibre design features a central nerve structure coupled with shorter, curly fibres to give Delta the ability to spring back fast, enabling the blades to stay upright for a superior result. The 32mm pile gives it a proud, confident character.
With 16,700 stitches per square metre, Delta is a thick, lush fake grass that feels great underfoot.
Delta is also exceptionally soft, so it feels just like walking on a manicured lawn.
The fibres provide a perfect balance between softness and resilience – strong enough to resist foot traffic and spring back to an upright position without compromising on softness.
Naturally Beautiful from Every Angle
Delta features Natural Look® technology, which enables the turf to look as realistic as possible from every angle.
Natural Look® works by deflecting light to give the grass a realistic, natural appearance.
Artificial grass without this technology emits glare and reflections, which cause the turf to look different shades of green depending on which angle it is viewed from.
Natural Look® enables Delta to have the same stunning good looks, whichever way you look at it.
Creating a Safe Environment for a Wide Range of Applications
Delta has been classed as Cfl-s1 in fire-retardant tests for fire-resistant flooring, according to UNE EN 13501-12007. Therefore, it complies with EU fire safety standards.
Being resistant to fire makes Delta a wise choice for public areas, such as pub gardens and hotel courtyards.
For further peace of mind, Delta has been certified as free from harmful substances by the industry’s leading safety testing authority, Oeko-Tex, ensuring it’s completely free from harmful substances and will not cause harm to visitors or the public.
Ultra-Tough Latex Backing
A vital aspect of any artificial turf is the backing, which is typically manufactured from latex.
A high-quality backing is key to long lasting fake turf, as it is what holds everything together. It comprises a primary and secondary layer, and backings using low quantities or poor-quality latex can result in separation of the yarn from the backing.
Delta is woven onto a reinforced polypropylene 163g/m2 backing that forms the primary layer and our turf manufacturing process ends by adding 968g/m2 of heavy duty latex, to give the Delta an anchoring resistance greater than 30N to each fibre.
The high percentage of latex present in the backing of the Delta results in a high strength artificial turf that will stand the test of time.
How to Install Delta
Our recommendations for installing Delta generally depend upon the application.
For most applications involving replacing an existing lawn in gardens, playgrounds, commercial areas and swimming pool surrounds, we recommend following our standard installation procedures, outlined here.
For high footfall areas we recommend installing a sub-base consisting of 100mm of Mot Type 1.
For other types of applications, for example, installing Delta onto existing surfaces, such as decking, concrete and paving, please following our step-by-step guide, here.
Both our 10mm and 20mm foam shockpad products can be used in conjunction with Delta to create a soft underfoot feel and provide protection from trips and falls; both products fully comply with the HIC legislation.
We recommend adding 4–5kg of silica sand per square metre of Delta to aid fixation, protect the fibres, improve drainage and regulate the temperature of your lawn. For further details on using a sand infill, please see our guide.
If you require specific installation advice for Delta, or any of our other artificial turf products, then please call on 01245 931200 or contact your nearest installer.
To prevent weed growth, we recommend installing a double layer of weed membrane, both to the sub-grade and directly underneath the artificial grass latex backing.
